The new Manufacturing System

New manufacturing solutions have been designed and implemented by enhancing the Odoo standard system with specific proprietary applications, fully integrated each others, to  support the following business scenarios:

  • Make to Order

  • Make to Stock

  • Assembly to Order

  • Supply Chain Management

  • MRO maintenance

Why a New Manufacturing System in Odoo?

A focused set of applications that close the gaps in standard Odoo

Standard Odoo

Standard Odoo covers the essentials but shows some limits in production planning & execution, product costing and maintenance management.

Materials Planning

Odoo materials planning is limited and no supply chain management solution (Demand Management, MRP and DDMRP).

Shop Floor Control

In manufacturing execution, standard Odoo does not fully support work order scheduling, work center capacity management, work order confirmation and production order closure.

Product Costing

Standard Odoo provides only a basic costing solution and lacks real-time WIP determination.

Plant Maintenance

Out-of-the-box Odoo lacks equipment management and no support for core maintenance strategies as preventive, corrective, periodic, and condition-based.

Subcontracting Process

Standard Odoo doesn’t offer a robust subcontracting workflow, from component supply through activity confirmation.

Main Applications description

The OpenValue Manufacturing Planning Solution

MRP Planning Engine

The MRP Planning Engine module provides a full comprehensive tool for managing Material Requirements Planning process in both production management and supply chain management.

The two basic material planning types have been implemented:

•        Push logic with backwards scheduling and requirements explosion (where BoM is defined); that’s the classical MRP tool

•        Pull logic, that’s Reorder Point procedure with forward scheduling for automatic stock replenishment

The following Demand Management Strategies are supported also:

•        MTS: the sales order is not relevant for planning and the demand is reduced at sales goods issue (sales order delivery)

•        MTO: no independent demand items can be entered

•        Planning production by lots: the sales order and the demand items are planned together; it is important to choose a lot method for grouping the demand; the demand is reduced at sales goods issue (sales order delivery)

•        Planning with final assembly: the demand reduction is at sales order confirmation so overplanning is considered

•        Planning without final assembly: as the “planning with final assembly” for the planning topics; planned orders are created for planning purposes only so they cannot be converted, that means the last stage of production process can be performed with sales order.

MRP Planning Engine Capacity Load

the MRP Planning Engine Capacity Load module supports the process for determining a capacity‑constrained demand plan through recursive capacity‑planning cycles; hence, it is possible to consolidate the demand into a feasible sales plan.

The Total Replenishment Lead Time (Planning Time Fence) is managed at the MRP Parameter level and can be estimated using the Planning Engine BoM DLT report.

MRP Planning Engine MTO

The MRP Planning Engine MTO module completes the overall planning process in Make-To-Order scenario by enhancing the OpenValue MTO solution based in the MRP Planning Engine. Its purpose is to monitor the MTO supply chain status for tracking the promised customer delivery date with alerts for quantity shortages and time delays. We have a a recap of all necessary figures supporting in only one report the monitoring of the overall MTO supply chain status.

MRP Planning Engine Subcontracting

The MRP Planning Engine Subcontracting module enhances the OpenValue MRP Planning Engine solution by implementing a subcontracting replenishment process based on the quantity shortage calculated by MRP planning engine.

The OpenValue Manufacturing Execution Solution

Shop Floor Control

The MRP Shop Floor Control module supports the E2E Manufacturing Execution process from the manufacturing order creation to its closure.

Its main features are:

·        workorder scheduling and work center capacity loading

·        capacity evaluation

·        capacity levelling with mid-point Scheduling technique

·        workorder confirmation with partial quantities and actual dates determination

·        WIP quantity determination for each workorder based on its partial confirmations

·        production order closure

MRP Product Costing

The Product Costing module supports the decision-making process in manufacturing execution providing with all necessary manufacturing costing figures.

In detail, we have as follows:

•        Manufacturing costing figures calculated in real time in manufacturing order

•        Accounting postings for WIP evaluation at workorder confirmation

•        Actual direct costs posted in real time at workorder confirmation

•        Variance analysis

•        Manufacturing order settlement

•        WIP calculation in real time

MRP SFC External Operation

The Shop Floor Control External Operation module is the solution for managing the outsourced production activities process by integrating Shop Floor Management with Purchasing

MRP SFC BoM Component Substitution

In the Shop Floor BoM Component Substitution module is possible to enter a substitute product for each BoM item with a validity date for managing equivalent components in stockout or Discontinued Parts processes.

BoM Availability Check

The BoM Availability Check tool aims to check the production feasibility of customer requested quantity based the project stock availability at all BoM’s levels.

MRP SFC BoM Master Production Plan

The correct execution of the Master Production Plan management process is essential to ensure its feasibility in terms of the availability of both components and production resources. Material and Capacity Availability Checks can be performed for draft production orders, so before their releasing to the shop floor. A report (and its printout) allows the selection of production orders—either in draft status or already converted—by date, thereby enabling management of the Master Production Plan process.

MRP SFC Scheduling Engine

The Scheduling Engine Optimizer performs finite capacity scheduling of the all open Workorders providing as outcome a daily resource capacity leveling and the the processing sequence assignment to workorders. Therefore, the Master Production Plan is feasible and operations are assigned to production resources without conflicts.

The following objective functions (main KPI) are available:

•        LENGTH MOs – WIP: Minimize the sum Manufacturing Order throughput time (span) and therefore the WIP.

•        MAKESPAN: Minimize the completion of overall Master Production Plan (the total time required to complete all production orders)

•        SUM COMPLETITION: Minimize the sum of Manufacturing Order Completion Time

•        TARDINESS: Minimize the sum of positive lateness (delay) relative to the due date

MRP SFC BoM Comparison

With SFC BoM Comparison you can compare two Bills of Materials as:

·        Single-level comparison

·        Multi-level level-by-level comparison (subassemblies/semifinished items included)

·        Multi-level summarized comparison (components only)

It’s also built to support the transition from Engineering BoM (EBoM) to Manufacturing BoM (MBoM), helping engineering and operations align faster and reduce shop-floor issues.

Plant Maintenance

MRO Maintenance

The MRO Maintenance supports maintenance processes management with the following maintenance strategies:

•        Corrective

•        Preventive

•        On condition

•        Periodic

•        Maintenance Plan

•        Retrofit

MRP MRO Maintenance Integration

The MRP MRO Maintenance Integration module aims to integrate the MRO Maintenance features in the overall OpenValue Manufacturing Solution.

Purchase and Inventory

Purchase Monitor

Reporting for supporting follow up activities in purchasing process

Stock Transfer Interwarehouses

The Stock transfer inter- warehouses module aims to support the stock transfer process between warehouses belonging the same company.

All the stock transfer process steps are performed with reference to a specific document: stock transfer document: therefore, it is possible to control all the stock transfer process steps in only one document.
